1st Filter: Antibacterial 5 Micron Sediment
The Two stage filter is made from nano zinc powder infused, NSF certified polypropylene fibres. The fibres have a +97% efficiency of filtering particles that are 5 microns or larger while the nano zinc powder acts as an antibacterial agent for any microorganisms in the incoming water supply. Although zinc is an element that humans cannot live without, it is lethal to microorganisms such as bacteria, virus, algae, fungi, etc.

2nd Filter: Sediment + Coconut Shell CTO Carbon Block
The two stage filter is made from NSF Certified Coconut Shell Carbon which has a very high capacity to reduce taste and odour compared to charcoal filters. The carbon block filter is also wrapped in a microporous cloth which not only filters sediment but also protects the honeycomb style pores of the carbon from particles so their filter capacity used on contaminants such as chlorine as opposed to dirt. To increase the adsorption process even further, the carbon is treated with Nitrogen to make it “activated”. This will not only attract the contaminants into the pores but also make sure they stay there.

3rd Filter: Coconut Shell GAC Carbon
The three stage filter is made from NSF Certified Coconut Shell Granule Activated Carbon (GAC). The Coconut Shell Granule Activated Carbon (GAC) is a two stage media that not only filters common contaminants found in water supplies such as chlorine, but also kills bacteria and reduces taste and odour. Each granule is impregnated with silver and unlike standard GAC carbon which can promote bacteria growth, the silver will not only prevent the growth of bacteria but also aid in killing them.

4th Filter: Anti-Scale & Anti-Corrosion
The filter is made from harmless polyphosphate mineral (siliphos), which is gradually released into the filtered water to form a very thin layer of film on water contact surfaces such as: pipes, heating elements, shower, kitchen, etc. This thin layer prevents limescale (scale) found in hard water to deposit on these surfaces by repelling scale forming molecules as well as coating them to prevent scaling further downstream. The film will also protect surfaces from corrosion because it blocks molecules containing oxygen, which leads to oxidation, which leads to rust and corrosion.

BMB-1000 Hydra Whole House Water Filtration System (Point-of-Entry)
Good day. The reviews, questions and answers are very helpful, however I am a bit concerned at the false information advertised by Victoria Plumbing which states the BMB 1000 DOES remove fluoride. This is potential liable especially given the sensitivity some of us have to fluoride. Please confirm and how this is to be resolved. Many thanks.
We want to express our gratitude for bringing up this topic. We've addressed this concern with Victorian Plumbing, but unfortunately, it seems to have been overlooked. It's important to clarify that the information suggesting fluoride removal with the BMB-1000 is misleading, as fluoride removal is a commonly asked question.
The only filter in the BMB-1000 that might have a minor impact on fluoride, specifically in its ionic form (Hydrogen Fluoride and Fluorine ions), is the activated carbon filter (filter 3). However, its effectiveness may only reach around 30%, and it won't eliminate fluoride compounds that are bonded to other elements, such as calcium fluoride (CaF2).
In addition, we've also reached out to BMB Technology, and they also confirm that the BMB-1000 is not designed or particularly effective for fluoride removal. Filters specifically designed for fluoride removal, like RO (Reverse Osmosis) or Activated Alumina filters, are more suitable for this purpose. Our standard recommendation to customers is that the BMB-1000 is excellent for whole-house filtration, but for effective fluoride removal, we always suggest considering one of our point-of-use RO systems.
